Argentina Beats Nigeria 1-0 in World Cup Action from Ellis Park, Johannesburg




JOHANNESBURG, South Afria- Argentina have won the second game of Group B at Ellis Park in South Africa 1-0, in front of a packed stadium.
Leonel Messi was an early challenger, having three touches and two shots on goal in the first give minutes alone.
An unmarked Gabriel Heinze scored with a strong header via a corner cross in the 6th minute, sending the Argentina fans into a frenzy.
Diego Maradona’s men dominated the first half, showing supreme technical skills that could help the Golden Eagles go very far in these 2010 FIFA World Cup Finals.
In the second, a slightly less energetic display was on from both sides, with Nigeria deciding to take a substitutions, putting on Martins in the 52nd minute in an attempt to shake things up.
Argentina’s possession football kept Nigeria out of the game, with long balls to the forward line failing to make headway.
In the final 20 minutes of the match, Nigeria looked much better, taking several close shots on goal to lift the crowd.
