Janet Jackson Joins the Billionaire Club

Janet Jackson Joins the Billionaire Club

Not only is Janet Jackson married to a billionaire, she's also a 10-figure money maker herself. According to Variety, a tally of the 47-year-old’s earnings from her successful concert tours ($458 million), films like For Colored Girls and The Nutty Professor ($304 million), album sales ($260 million), and sponsorship deals ($81 million) has her exceeding the one billion dollar milestone.
This past February, Janet informed the world that she married fashion tycoon Wissam Al Mana in a hush-hush ceremony. Al Mana is a shareholder in Saks Fifth Avenue stores in Dubai, Doha, Bahrain and Kuwait; and director of Al Mana Retail.
Surprisingly, despite her late brother’s massive success, King of Pop Michael Jackson never reached the billion dollar mark. The few who have include Oprah Winfrey, Steven Spielberg, J.K. Rowling and Madonna, who was recently inducted after her last tour.
As for Ms. Jackson, she has no plans to stop raking in the dough. The singer confirmed that she is “working on a new project.”

Winning Cancer... Vast & Smash (of Bracket) at their “Temperature” Video Shoot

vast 3

The news broke earlier this month that Vast, one half of the popular Afro Pop group – Bracket, had been diagnosed of Lymphoma, a type of cancer of the blood, and was undergoing treatment in the UK. As it turned out, the cancer was detected early and has been treated. Along with very healthy photos of himself uploaded to his Instagram page, the captions read:
“I am full of energy and totally healed because the incident is old news. I was healed since February.” [sic]
Vast 2
Later on, he decided to clear the air on the matter as he posted yet another with the following caption:
“I am strong, healthy, and full of energy. I thank the Lord for that and I also thank all my fans for being there… kisses”
We’re certainly glad that he is alright and surely hope the best for him for the rest of his treatment, if any.
Back to the matter of Bracket‘s music, the two, Smash and Vast, who seem to have been on hiatus for a while now, have seriously been cooking up something great for us to taste. Their “Temperature” music video is slated to drop before we know it and we should also be expecting a solo effort from Vast anytime soon, aptly titled “Cupid Man”.
Vast
Here’s a caption from Vast‘s Instagram where he teases on what to expect from his solo work.
“Being a romantic,understanding,and a caring friend is worth more than being a rich friend.u don’t become a friend because u have d money,u become a friend because u u love and care. – “d Cupid man”.
It seems he’s going to get the ladies swooning again. For now though, here are a few photos fromBracket‘s “Temperature” shoot in the UK and guess what, Clarence Peters was on the scene. There’s a touching hospital scene where Vast goes to see his leading lady; talk about turning the tables.
Check on it!

Mo'Nique Loses 80 pounds, Encourages "Big Women" to Avoid Surgery and Diet Pills

Mo'nique wasn't loving when there was mo' of her to love.
So, three years ago, the Precious actress decided to change her lifestyle and lose weight in a healthy way. Now, 80 pounds lighter, the 45-year-old star is opening up about her super slimdown.
"I'm the best Mo'Nique I've ever been," she told NYC radio show Hot 97 Tuesday. "And I still have a ways to go."
Mo'Nique, Twit PicTwitter
Part of the secret behind the Oscar winner's fitter physique is committing to walking at least 10,000 steps a day, which she keeps track of on a pedometer, and mixing up her workouts, which include weight lifting, yoga, basketball and running. She also tweets updates on her progress and messages of encouragement for others trying to get in shape.
But Mo'Nique didn't just lose the weight for her own sake: She did it for her family, thanks in part to husband Sidney Hicks' encouragement. When she weighed in at "close to 300 pounds," she recalls saying to herself, "OK sis, you got these babies. The twins are 7,Michael's 9, Shalon's 22.' And I want to meet their babies. So, I said, 'Let me stop being selfish and eating everything.'"
"And I ate everything," she admits. "I was a food junkie."
Part of the reason she's being so open about her gradual, healthy course of action is that she wants it to inspire others. "I want women to see, especially us big women, that you don't have to let them cut you and suck it out," she says. "You don't have to let them staple you up. You don't have to let them give you a pill. You don't have to let them put a band around your organs. If you just put the work in, baby, I promise you, it comes off."
And it sure looks like Mo'Nique's hard work is paying off!
