Message of the Week: God’s Unassuming Change Agent

Nike Adeyemi
A change agent works to bring about change in his/her environment. God uses people as change agents for the advancement of His kingdom. God’s choice for change agents are not necessarily geniuses or good looking famous people; He most often picks the most unlikely and seemingly insignificant people. He selects faithful people who will be able to carry out assignments.
Jael was an unassuming change agent. She was an insignificant sit-at-home woman. But from her quiet little place at home, God was preparing her for destiny; she recognised she was God’s agent for change. She was faithful to her country and to God and because of her faithfulness, God gave her the strength and grace to kill the enemy king. She was bold, courageous and not afraid for her life. These are qualities of change agents.
God expects believers to arise as change agents and begin to make a difference by being faithful right were we are. In the Parable of Talents, MATT 25, a master traveling, left five, two and one talent with three of his servants. Upon his return, the servants who had five and two talents had doubled them, but the servant who had only one talent did nothing with it. This grieved the master. The servants who doubled their talents were called good and faithful; faithfulness was in their hearts, while the servant who did nothing with one talent was called wicked. He got no promotion because he was lazy, a procrastinator and unfaithful. He was not qualified to be a change agent.
Faithfulness is the key to becoming a change agent. It is one of the fruits of the Spirit. God is faithful so we’ve got to be faithful like He is. Faithfulness is a scarce quality around us and God expects it of us. Our faithfulness will heal the broken hearted and the unbelievers who the world has hurt. Faithfulness will make people feel safe around believers and encourage them to come to God.
Brethren, you are the church, clean up your act. Be faithful to the people in your neighborhood, be faithful to God’s call on your lives, be faithful to your spouse and children, boss and clients. Faithfulness will do wonders in affecting lives and healing the nations; and will qualify you for God’s promotion.
