PHOTO: Hillary Clinton in East Timor, watches and beams as Bill Clinton delivers speech at Democratic convention

While her husband was giving a magnificent speech in support of Obama at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, the US secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, was in faraway East Timor on official assignment. That didn’t stop her from watching it though, and her beam is worth a thousand words.
By law, secretaries of state are prohibited from going to party conventions.
“Officially, let me say that for decades secretaries of state have not attended political conventions because of the non-partisan nature of our foreign policy,” Hillary Clinton said on Thursday, according to the Times. “I think it’s a good rule. It’s one that I certainly accepted.”
