James Ibori, former Delta State governor will return to the Southwark Crown Court at 10am on Monday morning for the confiscation of assets hearing involving his defense team and the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).
Sources at the Crown Court confirmed to the press on Friday that the former governor would be present for the hearing.
“It’s in Court 5, at 10am and he’ll be coming,” a sources said, when asked if Ibori would be present in court for the hearing.
Available records indicate that Ibori is no longer at Wandsworth Prison, where he was taken immediately after his conviction.
“I don’t really know where he is, as the system has not been updated,” a court staff said.
Judge Anthony Pitts jailed Ibori for 13 years in April saying, “You are to serve half (six and a half years) of that. The 625 days (one year and 260 days), which you have spent in custody are to be credited to the amount of years to serve.”
In essence, Ibori will spend at least four years and nine months (and some days) before he is deported back to Nigeria as a convicted criminal.
