Mis-priority??
Yesterday, I shared a news report on the new
beautification law in Lagos state which I thought was the most
interesting idea I’ve heard from the state government {click here if you missed it}. But I was so wrong.
The State government yesterday announced its plan to compete in the Lagos World Record Tooth Brushing Challenge
in December. Over 300, 000 persons will simultaneously brush their
teeth with the aim of creating a new Guinness Book of Records in tooth
brushing!
To achieve the feat, no fewer than 300,000 pupils
from 300 public schools will brush their teeth at different
locations simultaneously at a competition which is to hold on December
5, 2012.
The Special Adviser to the Governor on Public Health, Dr. Yewande Adeshina, disclosed this at a world press conference held yesterday to commemorate the World Oral Day.
The theme of the challenge is “Don’t wait: address
your future now,” and is aimed at enlightening people on the importance
of proper oral hygiene.
The 300,000 students are set to beat the current record of 177,003 set by India in 2007.
“At exactly 12 noon on December 5, we hope to
lead over 300,000 adolescents in brushing their teeth at multiple
locations for a single, glorious minute,” Mr. Bakare Lawal, a dentist told The Nation.
This sounds really interesting. I’m sure it would be fun for the participating students.
I kinda wish I was selling tooth brushes or tooth
paste at this point in time. But wait, its not too late. The competition
is in December so maybe I still have time to start my own toothbrush or
toothpaste distribution company *wink*.
