Message of the Week: Excellence in Leadership, Sam Adeyemi

Genesis 1 : 26-27 , 31
Man is God's ultimate piece of creation, specially crafted after His image and likeness. He created man after He had created every other thing. He put everything in place for man and gave him dominion over them. This dominion mandate from God defines man's leadership position. Therefore, every human being is a leader in his/her own right. God has ordained us to dominate our environment; we are to re-define leadership in our world. Leadership is influence. Jesus said, 'You are the salt of the earth' and 'the light of the world', thus He re-established the dominion mandate. We should let our light shine before men so that they will see our good (excellent) works and glorify God. In whatever field or profession you find yourself, bear in mind that as a Christian, you are the new definition of leadership there, you must make a difference. Leadership is a great opportunity to serve. It' s a wrong belief that a leader should dominate, oppress, feel superior or enjoy life at the expense of others. As a leader, you must discipline yourself first; your example is more important than your principle. The reason God raises leaders is so the leaders will, in turn, raise leaders. Jesus demonstrated to us how to lead and His leadership style is servant- leadership. To lead, you must be ready to serve the people you plan to lead. Focus on service and not your position or yourself. Love the people you lead, you can't serve people if you don't love them. Take responsibility for wherever you are and lead excellently from there because God has raised you to demonstrate His manifold wisdom.
