Message of the Week: A Call to Prayer

Nike Adeyemi
It's in the news, it's happening around us. The sound of wars and rumours of war. Earthquakes, tsunamis, floods, raging fires, bomb explosions, ethnic cleansing, killings, massacres... Our world is in peril. Seems like the end of the world is upon us, but according to the bible, the end is not yet. MARK 13:7.

It is time now for Christians to rise up and stand in the gap for humanity. God has placed us here to influence our world positively, to give hope to the hopeless and set the captives free. Let's not sit back until we are utterly destroyed; no time to fold our hands in dread, discouragement and defeat. We must offer prayers to God for mercy. We should show compassion and give comfort to those who have experienced devastation. Give generously of yourself and your substance. As Lagosian Christians, let us secure our city with prayers, fortify our borders with the blood of Jesus Christ. We will no longer live in fear of rumours of enemies with a mandate to wreak havoc on our city Lagos. Not on our watch!! Remember, we are the salt of the earth, we must make a difference.

Let us pray:

“Almighty God, the Omnipotent, Omnipresent, Omniscient, the Merciful. At this time more than ever, we come to you with our frailties. Show unto mankind Your mercy. Stay the hand of the destroyer and continually protect and prosper your people for Your name's sake You are faithful, heal the brokenhearted and restore the wounded. Instill in us your love so that we can all co-habit peacefully and the world will be a better place to live in. We thank You Lord, for in Jesus' name we've prayed, Amen”.
