She's a relative newcomer in the red carpet stakes, but that hasn't stopped American actress Kerry Washington from scooping the top spot on Vanity Fair 's prestigious annual best-dressed list.
Though the 36-year-old has been on the Hollywood scene for years, it was her recent role in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained that brought her to our attention in late 2012. The red carpet whirlwind that pre-empted the film's release saw Washington wear designers like Peter Pilotto, Miu Miu, Giles, Louis Vuitton and Marchesa with aplomb and subsequently lead us to crown her January's best dressed . Great minds.
The 39 other names that make up the list are a mixture of Hollywood, royalty, fashion industry, musicians, sportsmen and society. Surprisingly there's only one member with a political affiliation - Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping. That's right, Michelle Obama is conspicuous by her absence. :D
