The man who allegedly tried to break into Taye Diggs' home has been formally charged. According to TMZ, Hassam Omar Juma has been hit with one count of first degree burglary.
This past Sunday evening, Diggs reported to police that when he came home from the SAG Awards he was confronted by a man trying to break into his house. After chasing Juma, 20, Diggs says he ended up having to restrain the suspect until the police arrived.
Monday, Juma was charged with felony burglary stemming from the incident. If he is convicted, he could spend as much as six years in state prison. No word on whether Juma was arraigned later that day. Reportedly, prosecutors will ask the judge to set bail at $50,000. Still no word yet on if the suspect stole anything from Diggs’ home.
