BET, MTV Base To Honor Aaliyah With ‘Tribute Special’


It has been eight years since Aaliyah Dana Haughton passed away. The whole world went agog when it was announced that the 22-year-old singer lost her life tragic plane crash in the Bahamas on Thursday, August 25, 2001 after filming the music video for the song ‘Rock the boat’.
In remembrance of the late R&B singer, Black Entertainment Television (BET) and MTV Base will be honouring the accomplishments of the recording artist, actress and model before her untimely death.
The details of the ‘tribute special’ have not been announced but the network channels have hinted that they will be highlighting past videos and movies which the singer/actress.
In a somewhat short career, the Detroit, Michigan born singer released three albums Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number (1994), One in a Million (1996), and the self titled Aaliyah in 2001.
