Wigan Slap £10m Price Tag On Victor Moses

Wigan have slapped a £10million price tag on Victor Moses in a final bid to ward off suitors from their prize asset.

The 21-year-old forward alerted Liverpool and Tottenham to his availability last month when he broke off contract talks with the Latics, having grown frustrated with the pace of negotiations.

Moses, a Nigeria international, has put together a string of virtuoso performances against the best clubs over the last eight weeks which has increased his number of admirers.

Roberto Martinez signed Moses from Crystal Palace for £2.5m two years ago, but his improvement in that period will now enable them to demand a sizeable profit.

And while Martinez refuses to be drawn on his own Wigan future, he admits the Latics will face a battle to keep Moses.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez Baggies bound? Roberto Martinez is emerging as a likely candidate to replace Roy Hodgson at West Brom Martinez said: “You cannot stop players going to the next moment in their career and the potential of Victor is incredible.

As long as the club gets the right price and the player gives everything they have got for Wigan, then our chairman Dave Whelan will never stop them from moving upwards.

“It happened last year with Charles N’Zogbia and it would be unrealistic of us to think we will never lose players.

“Victor has the quality to go as high as he wants to. We sometime forget he is only 21 and we don’t want anyone to feel stale here.

“He is enjoying his football and if he attracts admirers from outside the club, that’s because he is doing well and Wigan are doing well.” Martinez rejected overtures to become Aston Villa manager last summer, while Whelan has said that his boss will only leave the club if it is for a bigger challenge elsewhere.
