Asa N700m Lawsuit: case adjourned to June 26

The on-going court case between international R&B-Soul singer Bukola Elemide popularly known as Asa and celebrity tabloid ‘News of the People’ has once again been adjourned.
The court hearing which was slated for 9AM on Thursday, May 3, 2012 was adjourned by presiding judge Justice A.J Coker after both parties failed to show up at the Lagos High Court.
Nobody showed up, the judge had to postpone the case’, a court clerk serving in Justice Coker’s court room explained to our reporter.
The last two hearings have resulted in adjournments – On February 23, 2012 after Asa and her manager Janet Nwose were absent and on April 26 after Loye Hamzat, Publisher of ‘News of the People and his counsel were missing in court.
The case has now been adjourned to Tuesday, June 26, 2012.
A rep from Asa’s counsel at Abraham & Co. was unsure whether their lawyers were present at the court hearing and Asa’s reps as at the time of this report had not replied our messages.
Asa had slammed the N700m lawsuit against the celebrity magazine on November 22, 2010, after they published an article suggesting the musician is a homosexual. The magazine insists it is not culpable because it culled the story from an internet source.
