Soul singer Aretha Franklin has cancelled all concerts and public appearances for six months "at the insistence" of her doctors. The 68-year-old, who was admitted to hospital in Detroit last month for undisclosed reasons, is "resting comfortably" at home. A statement from the star's publicist said she was "very anxious to get back on the road to perform for her fans". Franklin shelved two gigs in August after breaking two ribs in a fall. "The award-winning songstress sends her sincerest apologies to her loyal followers and colleagues for the cancelled shows," the statement continued.
