INCREASE BEYOND MEASURE

Pastor Sam Adeyemi         |                 Ezekiel 37: 1-14
In the scriptural text, the Lord asked Ezekiel, “son of man can these bones live?” Ezekiel was perplexed because the bones were very dry and scattered all over the valley, but he responded, “Lord only you know.” There was just one key to make the dry bones live; prophecy. God told Ezekiel to prophesy to the bones. The real influencer and game changer here was the word of God. In the realm of human living certain things are impossible, but in God’s realm nothing is impossible. Whatever God says is possible.
It takes faith for all things to be possible for us. Faith is when we see things as God sees them and it’s only God who can take us to that dimension where we see things as He sees it. The good news is God can impart His faith into us. Ezekiel couldn’t say the bones could live because it was beyond his imagination as an individual; it was beyond his believing capacity. When God said, ‘these bones I will put breathe in you and you shall live,’ God’s word gave Ezekiel a platform to stand on; faith to prophesy as he was commanded.
Whenever we say something is impossible we are only admitting the fact that we don’t know how to make it possible. Sometimes we are too focused on the circumstances around us which in turn diminish our faith. Romans 10:28 says, ‘faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God.’ What we hear over a long period of time will determine the kind of faith we have. To have faith we must hear something from another dimension; we must hear what God has said.
In Mark 9:22-23, the man with a sick son came to Jesus asking ‘Lord if you can, please heal my son.’ Jesus responded, ‘If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.’ The question will never be if God can, but if you can believe! The capacity to have faith comes when we are under the influence of the Holy Spirit. It takes the inspiration of the Holy Spirit to function in God’s dimension. In Luke 5:4, Jesus told peter to launch into the deep and throw his net out, Peter was sceptical because they had toiled all night and caught nothing. Peter later said, “Nevertheless, at your word, I will let down the net.” Peter knew intuitively that Jesus was not speaking as an ordinary man but was under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. When all of human ability has failed, all ability has not failed because there is God’s ability.
It is important to note, that when you walk with God and walk by faith you can to talk to inanimate objects and they respond. Everything that God created has life and ears. Mark 11:23 says, ‘whoever shall say to this mountain, be moved and be cast to the sea.’ The mountain is an inanimate object, but God was telling us to speak to it! God told Ezekiel to talk to bones and to the wind, Jesus spoke to the wind, and Moses talked to the rock. Even money has ears! It is controlled by the spirit.
