Trey Songz’s Trademark Battle!

Trey Songz has taken the trademark battle for his “catchphrase” a step further.
The rapper is locked in a trademark battle over a catchphrase, and has taken things further by filing a countersuit against the reality TV star contesting ownership.
The hitmaker’s attorneys were the first to fire a legal shot by sending a cease and desist letter to Dave ‘The Mogul’ Hester (Storage Wars star) in an attempt to dissuade him from using Trey’s “sugnature sound”, “Yuuup!”.
All the letter did was push Hester to file a lawsuit in New York with the claim that his application of the catchphrase is quite different from that of Songz’s (because that makes such a huge difference).
Now, Trey has gone ahead to file a countersuit against Hester. Songz insists the right to use the trademark has been his since 2009, and Hester just only filed his own application for the trademark last year.
Trey Songz is requesting that a judge void Dave’s trademark and is seeking damages as well.
Yuuup!! Hehehe. Don’t mess with another guy’s “property”. Especially if said guy is in the entertainment industry.
