FORD SUPERMODEL OF THE WORLD: Contest berths in Nigeria

Casting for the Ford Supermodel of the World Contest (Lagos zone,) held last week at the Four Points Hotel. Oniru Lagos. The casting signaled the first leg of the prestigious Ford Super Model of the World Competition in Nigeria.

New York based Ford Model Management owners of the model search is a renowned agency reputed to have discovered some of the most beautiful supermodels in the world. Stars like Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlingnton, Elle

McPherson, and Cindy Crawford to name a few, cut their super stardom teeth at the Ford.

Acquiring the franchise of this prestigious brand is no doubt a thing of great joy to the Management of House of Jada Africa. Mr. Lekwot Benson, CEO of the company, at a presentation to the Vanguard recently, enthused on how it would transform lives and indeed, the fashion and beauty industry in Nigeria.

The casting, which started at 11am had well over 50 young hopefuls ranging in age, from15 to 21 years.

They came ready and prepared for the activities of the day. After a brief address of the contestants by the House of JADA project Director for the SMOW Nigeria 2011. The flawless organization of every single part of the event was a sure indication of great things to come in the fledgling modeling industry in Nigeria. While some of the applicants were fresh faces to the modeling scene, a good number of them were professional models.

The Interview and screening session followed immediately after accreditation. The profiles of the judges were impressive. On the roll call was Bimpe Benson, a fashion analyst, senior banker and anchor, StyleScape, Zizi Cardow, a seasoned industry practitioner and President/Creative Director, Zizi Cardow Fashions; Remi Diagbare, a creative writer and fashion analyst, and Editor, Vanguard Allure magazine; Michelle Dede, an industry expert and presenter and Kiki Kamanu, a former Ford Model and present Editor-in-Chief, ELAN.

Speaking to newsmen after the event, the President House of JADA Africa and Coordinator, Ford Supermodel Search in Nigeria, Ghana, Gambia and Benin Republic reiterated that the search is expected to redefine the industry by adding professional representation and creating career paths for participants.

Ford Models, the franchise owner of the Supermodel of the World search is the global leader in model management, representing a glittering list of stars, including Christie Brinkley, Erin O'Connor, Rachel Hunter, Stephanie Seymour, Kim Basinger, Elle Macpherson, Veronica Webb, Christy Turlington, Brooke Shields and Naomi Campbell to name a few.
