G Note Records launches
Nobody Died At Star Megajam’ – NB PLC
Rumours have been flying round, about this year’s Star Megajam which held in Lagos and Abuja last weekend. Sources say there was a stampede at the Abuja concert, leading to multiple injuries. But, while there are reports that some fans died as a result of the stampede, the organisers, through the statement below (made available to us just minutes ago), insist nothing of such happened.
_______
The attention of Nigerian Breweries Plc has been drawn to a misleading news report carried by some News Media alleging that some people died at the star mega jam concert which ended in Abuja early Sunday morning.
Nigerian Breweries wishes to state categorically that the story is completely false and without any substance. NOBODY DIED at the concert as alleged. There were reported cases of minor injury sustained by 13 people as a result of the rush that occurred when a huge crowd of people tried to gain entry into the venue.
Those injured were promptly taken to the National Hospital, Abuja, for further treatment by the Critical Rescue International team which had 3 Ambulances on ground. The hospital authorities have confirmed that the injured have been treated and discharged.
The concert, like the Lagos leg attracted a huge crowd which is normal for a concert featuring an A-list artiste like R Kelly. We thank those who have called in to confirm this report and urge the general public to discountenance this false reports .The concert as confirmed by many was a huge success.
Nigerian Breweries Plc wishes to use this opportunity to thank all who attended the concerts both in Lagos and Abuja for their support and patronage over the years.

Nicki Minaj Attacks Lil Kim
Nicki’s recent single “Roman’s Revenge” sparked a world of controversy for its subliminal shots at Kim. ”Yeah, I said it has-been, hang it up–flat screen” was just one of the many references to the Queen Bee. Lil’ Kim has picked at Nicki for some time, without response but that’s all over. Nicki Minaj truly went in on Lil’ Kim and I think she may have started the next big rap beef!
Nicki seemed like she was bursting to get all this out:
“[Kim] just really jumped out of the window and you got to be careful when you pick fights. That’s what I learned in this business. You just never know. I think people get me mistaken wiht like a real Barbie… they forget where I’m from. If i have to revert back I can, and I will. Don’t play with me. I respect you and love you. I’ve said it in every interview, time and time again. And if that’s not good enough for you mama, then it’s something deep rooted in you. Something is bothering you inside….”
“She picked a fight with Foxy, she picked a fight with Eve, then she picked a fight with Remy…Everytime you’re in the news it’s cause you getting at somebody”
“Put your music out and when I see your name on Billboard that’s when I’ll respond to you. Other than that. Goodbye!”
“And that doesn’t take away from the respect I have for you. You know when a mom got to beat you and she says this is going to hurt me more than it hurts you.”
Nicki goes on to say she asked LIl’ Kim during a Lil’ Wayne tour if there was a problem, and Kim responded “no” and asked to take a picture with her.
Foxy asked “Why you keep on giving props to Kim? She don’t like you, she be dissin’ you…”
Nicki thinks it’s because of her new found success.
“When you become competition people go wait”!
“You’re going to go down in history as a sore loser!”
That’s funny that Foxy Brown was smiling in Nicki’s face because she recently came at Nicki on a verse in Gyptians song “Hold Yuh” – The urbandaily

Foxy brown to do Lil Kim diss
We hear Foxy Brown is looking to release a new track to diss Lil Kim. From Tupac vs. Biggie to Ja-Rule vs. 50 Cent to Jay-Z vs. Nas; it seems like the fellas in the rap game have pretty much chilled and the only ones beefing are the females. Now Foxy Brown is back in the game with a soon-to-be released Lil' Kim diss track. Foxy Brown has announced the coming of a Lil' Kim diss record that her press release calls the most anticipated response since Jay-Z's "Takeover."; their words...not mine.

Kween Finally Weds!
Kween Onokala and her partner Dotun Omotoye exchanged wedding vows at a Lagos registry yesterday Tuesday December 21.
Omotoye, who’s the father of Kween’s second son Tyronne, is a Lagos-based club proprietor who runs popular club ‘The Place’.
The pair have been dating for a while now; with Omotoye announcing shortly after Kween got pregnant in 2008, that he would marry her.
And just when many were beginning to think the wedding plans would never materialise, Kween returned home months back, after two years hibernating in London.
And, while many would expect her to rush back into music and put her career back in shape, the gifted singer put her marriage first – setting her mind on the man of her dreams and preparing to settle down to married life.
How Olumide Akande Proposed To . She Might Quit Acting!
‘I noticed he was excited’, she said and then teased him. On the day of the party, he suggested they should go eat at a restaurant before going to the party – this was in Chicago, US. The restaurant was ‘the finest we’ve ever been’, she confessed. She should have guessed his intentions but she assumed he was just been his ‘sweet self’. Olumide had informed the restaurant of his intention and they assisted in making the event extra special.
Just after their meal and she ordered for desert, a waiter came with a trolley which she was on the verge of informing they ordered for just desert but the waiter opened the cover of the trolley and a red box was revealed – then it dawned on her as Olumide got on his kneels. She shed a tear and couldn’t wait to say ‘yes’. Just afterwards, congratulatory remarks poured in from every guest present at the restaurant, in true American style.
She recalls they had talked about rings and she had particularly picked what he got her as her favourite then moved on to the party for Essence Magazine which turned out to be a surprise party for her.
The big screens might also loose a good actress as she informed Genevieve Magazine that she might not be acting as she would want to be family-oriented like her mom and acting might not permit that. She intends to stay in the creative business though.

Love It or Hate It: Angelina Jolie, Christina Aguilera switch it up on red carpet
Angelina Jolie and Christina Aguilera have both been on plenty of red carpets over the past few weeks as they promote their respective films, "The Tourist" and "Burlesque" around the world.
Both actresses have had a definitive style as they've been promoting, with Angelina Jolie sticking to black and white and Aguilera toning down her usual vamped-up look with colorful, elegant gowns.
Last night, Jolie donned a Swarovski crystal top with a velvet skirt from Atelier Versace that gave her a little more jazz than usual. Tell us what you think below.
Aguilera rocked a fuchsia Alberta Ferretti number in Berlin.
Ten Dumbest Things Celebs Said in 2010
When celebrities open their mouths, sometimes we listen, but other times, we just laugh.
So which stars made the biggest fools of themselves this year by saying the stupidest things?
Let's count 'em down!
10. Mark Wahlberg. “The Fighter” star had a strange answer when asked who was his “sexiest” superhero.
“Probably the little kid from ‘Kick Ass,’” he told Pop Tarts at the Comic Con Convention in July.
Ummm, Mark – “Hit Girl” from “Kick Ass” is 10 years old.
9. Prince. The legendary entertainer must have had moguls, executives, celebrities, world leaders and regular folk losing sleep due to stress earlier this year when he declared worldwide web's days were numbered.
"The Internet's completely over," Prince told the U.K’s Daily Mirror. "I don't see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won't pay me an advance for it and then they get angry when they can't get it."
You've got to give it to someone Prince, or nobody will hear it!
Sheesh.
8. Kanye West. After apologizing profusely throughout 2010 for grabbing Taylor Swift's spotlight at the 2009 Grammys, Kanye West did an about face and complained that, after he dissed her onstage, he was disappointed that Taylor Swift "didn't have my back."
Why would she have his back? He's the one who humiliated her!
Talk about living in a fantasy land.
7. Pink. Just last month the pop/punk princess, who is currently pregnant with her first child, advocated support for bashing children as a means of discipline.
“I think parents need to beat the crap outta their kids," she told Access Hollywood. "I think the whole spanking thing and how it's gotten all PC is for the birds… [My dad] put me through a wall; it's the only reason I'm still alive."
Watch your back Pink Jr.!
6. Ke$ha. Let’s hope this 23-year-old emerging pop star sticks to partying and performing, and doesn’t follow the Hollywood trend of getting all political. That could be quite a problem.
"I actually don't read anything, because I feel like the haters really like to hate out loud, [and] that people who love sometimes love quietly. So I don't really listen or look at anything,” she told MTV News in May.
Love quietly Ke$ha, love quietly.
5. Taylor Momsen. While the rest of Hollywood offered time, money, and sincerest condolences to the victims of the Haiti Earthquake in January, “Gossip Girl” starlet Taylor Momsen announced that she had better things to do.
“Right now I’m trying to just finish my record and getting through the last season of “Gossip Girl” for right now,” she told OK! when asked if she would follow the lead of celebs like Angelina Jolie and Wyclef Jean in supporting the cause. “So not so much thinking about that.
4. David Arquette. After revealing on Howard Stern’s radio show this week that he has been turning to the bottle a little too much since splitting from wife Courteney Cox a few months ago, and that he called Tom Cruise ‘Sean’ while drunk at a party, Arquette decided to share with the world what he needs in a woman right now.
"[Courteney] said she doesn't want to be my mother,” he continued. “I kind of need a mother right now. I need a girl to come bring me some soup and make sure I'm all right.”
Soup.
He then randomly expressed desire to make babies with ex-girlfriend, Drew Barrymore.
"I know she is with Justin Long and everything, but would cool would an Arquette-Barrymore child be?" he said.
David. You're still married.
3. Gisele Bundchen. The world’s highest paid supermodel gave hope to future moms all over the world when she described her experience of giving birth to son Benjamin last December.
“It wasn't painful, not even a little bit." Bundchen told Brazilian TV show Fantastico.
Yeah right.
2. Mel Gibson. Sadly, this year provided no shortage of vile Mel Gibson quotations. But one that was particularly memorable was when he insulted former girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva for not having any friends, before declaring he had no friends either.
“You don’t have any f*cking friends except me, and you treat me like shi*! So that’s why I’m so f*cking angry, because I don’t have any friends!” he said in an audio tape that was released in July.
And now, you really don't have any friends
1. John Mayer. The famed singer/songwriter was forced to deflate his head pretty quickly this year following a candid interview with “Playboy” magazine.
“[B]lack people love me. Someone asked me the other day, 'What does it feel like now to have a hood pass?' And by the way, it's sort of a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you could call it a n***** pass," he said
He then called his love machine a "white supremacist," explaining that while he enjoyed the company of black women, he did not like sleeping with them.
And for that, John Mayer, you are Pop Tarts' Celebrity Who Said the Stupidest Thing in 2010!
Put it with your Grammys.

Gucci Mane Released
It turns out Gucci Mane was cuffed, but never arrested.
As previously reported, cops raided Waka Flocka Flame's Atlanta home yesterday and cuffed Gucci. Though reports spread that prostitution may have been involved, Debra Antney, Waka's momager and Gucci's manager, says the prostitution talk isn't justified.
"It had nothing to do with prostitution," Antney told MTV News. "The weapons they found were licensed weapons. There was under an ounce of marijuana, but it was nothing but a blunt. The other drugs were medication that was in Waka's room from when he got hurt," Antney told MTV, in reference to Waka's shooting earlier this year.
While Gucci's a free man, the little brother of producer Lex Luger was reportedly arrested.
"They just locked up Lex Luger's little brother, because he had a little joint or something, so they took him," Antney told GlobalGrind. "They're just trying to find anything that they could find, they cut that boy's closet up. This is crazy!"
It is unclear whether authorities are searching for Waka.

Tokyo introduces manga restrictions
Tokyo has banned the sale and lease of anime films and manga comics depicting rape, incest and other sex crimes to under-18s. A bill, introduced by the metropolitan assembly, calls on the industry to self regulate by toning down graphic comics and films on general release. Publishers and retailers breaking rules face fines up to 300,000 yen (£2,280). A group of publishers, complaining of censorship, have threatened to boycott March\'s Tokyo International Anime Fair. The bill was proposed by conservative governor Shintaro Ishihara who said it was \"natural\" the legislation had been passed.

Fuji Icon Sikiru Ayinde Barrister Dies at 62
Multiple sources have informed us that Fuji music icon and veteran bandleader, Sikiru Ayinde Balogun, who had been ill for months, has passed on. Popularly called Barrister, the 90s hit-maker was reportedly on admission in a London hospital, until he died.
Sources say Barrister was moved to London from Germany where he had earlier sought treatment for an undisclosed ailment. Before Germany, he had earlier undergone an operation in India ‘to remove excess fat from his body’ according to family sources. One of his wives identified as ‘Yinka told friends this afternoon that Barry has passed. No official statement yet from the family and and one of his closest friends Buhari Olooto insists the musician is still alive. ‘I will let you know once I confirm anything contrary’ he tells our sources. ‘Lets wait and see. And even if he dies, you will know now; because we will all be at his burial and we will see his corpse’.
A close associate of King Sunny Ade, one Mr. Ige, who spoke on his behalf said although Barrister was on the hospital bed for long, his death still came as a shock because everybody was praying for him to recover. KSA particularly sent messages to him, praying to see him back very soon. Mr. Ige said the painful aspect of the death is that Barrister was a stabilising factor in the fuji brand of Yoruba cultural music, adding that his role is crucial and would be difficult to fill. PMAN President Dele Abiodun was also in shock when he learnt of Barrister’s demise, he tells our sources, ‘we are in a mourning mood. It’s so sad. I don’t know why it had to happen‘.
It is widely believed that Barrister died at St Mary’s hospital, Praed Street around Paddington in London. But a spokesperson at the hospital who gave her name as Caroline, tells our sources, ‘I have gotten a lot of phone calls concerning this but I am sorry, I cannot give any information on any of our patients because of our confidentiality agreement.’
Barrister is mostly remembered for his moster hit Fuji Garbage. Believed to be the ‘originator’ of the genre, he took to music full time after a short stint in the military (1967-1970).

Misi Quits Beat FM
Yemisi Molu, the host of Nigerian Idol has quit her job as an on-air presenter at Lagos-based station The Beat 99.9 FM.
Sources say the stunning broadcaster resigned last weekend; and the station is already shopping for a replacement for her.
Before clinching the deal to host Idol, Misi was a regular weekend OAP on The Beat. She also worked part-time at the Federal Palace Hotel, in Lagos.
Our sources say she’s freeing herself to focus on Idol; but we also hear her departure from Beat may be connected to some internal wrangling.
‘She lost her brother recently’, says a source. ‘I think he was shot. But, probably because she did not communicate it properly to the management before she took time off work, she was queried for missing her show. This obviously didnt go well with her; but I can’t say for certain, if that’s why she threw in the towel’. Our source does not want to be named.
Misi was not ready to go into details when she spoke with our reporter this afternoon; but she admits ‘I’m no longer with Beat FM’.
Deji Awokoya, who’s the General Manager at The Beat also confirms this, saying: ‘Yes it’s true she has left, but I’m not prepared to discuss reasons why she left’…

The 2010 MTV Africa Music Awards with Airtel reveal the 2010 Legend
The life and work of the South African singer and civil rights activist, who died in November 2008, will be celebrated at the MTV Africa Music Awards with Airtel in Lagos on Saturday 11 December 2010.
Makeba, whose stellar career spanned more than 50 years, was honoured by MTV for her musical talent and for her role in bringing African music and rhythms into the global spotlight.

Commented Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, MTV Networks Africa, “Miriam Makeba is a true legend and rightly celebrated throughout the world for her beautiful voice, fighting spirit and pioneering interpretation of African music.”
Miriam Makeba follows in the footsteps of previous MAMA Legend award winners Fela Anikulapo Kuti (2008) and Lucky Dube (2009).
The MTV Africa Music Awards 2010 is sponsored by Airtel in association with MasterCard. Other partners supporting the MTV Africa Music Awards with Airtel include Arik Air and the Lagos State Government.

Darey’s Third Album Draws Near, Releases Two New HAUSA and YORUBA Singles
‘We’re finally ready!’ he says excitedly. ‘I can’t wait to share what we’ve put together with my friends from all over the world’.
‘DOUBLE DARE’ is a two-part album – coming in two CDs (each CD is titled ‘HEART’ and ‘BEAT’ respectively – together read as HEARTBEAT)..
Yesterday, he released two new singles – ‘Ba Ni Kidi’ and ‘Sisi Eko’ via his Twitter page (@darey). In an unexpected, unsual and funny twist, Darey delivers a song in Pidgin and largely in Hausa with ‘Ba Ni Kudi’. Assumably, In a bid to ‘double dare’, Ba Ni Kidi is distant from previous effort (any record released by Dare) – There would be alot of experimenting on the album.
‘There’s going to be a lot of love and romance on the album, as you’d expect of Darey. But there’s also going to be a lot of fun; even naughty and mischievous stuff’ a privileged source reportedly said. ‘There’s another song called ‘Belly’; you might want to watch out for that’, he added.
‘I recorded Ba Ni Kidi with the kind help of my friends’ Cobhams, eLDee and Bayo who speak very good Hausa’ says Darey. ‘We were just messing around really’.
‘‘Sisi Eko”, a ballad done in Yoruba is Produced by Cobhams and Darey himself.
DOUBLE DARE will be released in a matter of weeks into the Nigerian market, while a UK debut, tentatively titled ‘DAREY’ is expected to follow.

For Cobhams and Ojuola, it was truly a blessing to celebrate their union surrounded by their close family and friends. Their marriage was solemnized at the Redeemed Christian Church of God – The King is Coming Parish at the Redemption Camp. The General Overseer of the RCCG – Pastor Enoch Adeboye along with his wife were present at the ceremony and played a major role in the proceedings as they prayed for the couple and helped usher them into married life.
