Beyoncé may be the baddest chick in the game but Sade Adu is the matriarch. On her current North American tour, the first since the band’s last one ten years ago and rumored to be the last one ever, Adu showcases the art or minimalism. Our Sources attended the East Rutherford, New Jersey performance on Friday at the Izod Center where the 52-year-old icon wasted no time wow’ing fans and keeping everyone at the sold-out arena on the edge of their seats.
From top to bottom, with John Legend as the opening act, Sade kept the crowd on their feet. The band ascended to the stage like superheroes rising to the sun. Adu, stepping out in all black with her trademark ponytail and red lips, kicked the show off with “Solider of Love” and a few dance steps to go with it.
Knowing exactly what her admirers love most, the British beauty wove in old and new tracks with a set design that transported the theater to various stages of the band’s career. From “Smooth Operator,” with Key Largo and Chicago marquee signs in the backdrop to working a huge gauze curtain as a psychedelic screen, the band rocked for two hours with the expertise of having done exactly that for the past 27 years.
Even better, the band appeared to have a blast performing for the masses. Saxophonist/guitarist Stuart Matthewman is a force and when coupled with Adu’s voice, he turns into an untouchable musical monster. If this does happen to be their last tour, there’s no denying the effect they’ve had on music lovers.

Walmart coming to Nigeria?
“It is an indication of the growing confidence in Nigeria’s economy,” Adefuye stated, adding that he was currently engaging with the leading US store on the conditions and requirements that would have to be met to do business in Nigeria.
WalMart currently employs about 2.1million employees and the CNN ranked it as the biggest global company last year, saying that, despite the global recession, the discount retailer’s bargain prices continued to lure consumers worldwide.
The company’s plan to open stores in Nigeria is part of the strategy of its leadership team, led by its new President/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Michael Duke.
At the company’s AGM last year, Duke was reported as saying that global markets were “becoming an even bigger and more important part of our company.” - Punch

I Slept with Slim Mariam
Her eyes glowed as we interlocked sights, hers calling out to mine, pleading for attention, which I gave as I stroked gently her hair.
She smiled, giggled, as I placed my lips on her forehead then its was pecks all over her beautiful olive skinned face. It was getting hot, you could say; the feeling was innocent, my hands touching her brittle fingers - I could feel her trust in my ability to keep her safe from harms way as those peering eyes once again looked at me as I unbuttoned her velvety shirt.
I carefully carried her with my strong arms as I looked at her temples... Lifting her effortlessly off the couch towards the bedroom door.
Through my mind echoed some rhythmic lyrics.. "I got a feeling, tonights gonna be a good night".. I sang along not uttering a single word from my lips but hitting actual notes through my mind's lips.. I lay her down, completely removing her shirt, staring at the perfection of God's wonderful creation. "Mariam", I said.. "Slim Mariam", I enthused, the only sight of perfection that surrounded my present location. She giggle again, not really understanding the gravity of the love I felt.. Each word I meant with every bit of my soul.
I removed my shirt, pecks, triceps, abdominal muscles bulging, revealing the mythical greek Zeus in this Naija dude. Heading straight towards my bed, I pick up my baby, my girl and place her in the cradle next to my bed. That night, there were no cries in the home of the young, single widowed father of Slim Mariam, my daughter & friend.

BEZ SET TO RELEASE DEBUT ALBUM JULY 2011
Nigerian alternative singer and guitarist Bez Idakula or Bez for short is set to release his debut album, the highly anticipated 'Super Sun' in July 2011. Bez, signed to Cobhams Asuquo Music Productions ( CAMP) came into limelight a few years ago with the help of producer/record label boss Cobhams Asuquo . He has gone on to open for international acts like Asa, Angie Stone and Yolanda and performed at events like the Lagos Jazz Series . He has also performed alongside top music acts like Nneka , 2 face , Mike Aremu , and South African based Judith Sephuma to mention a few. Bez's alternative sound which is upbeat and groovy, made with acoustic influences isn't like the conventional music made in the country and has put the 26- year-old in a class of the likes of Jeremiah Gyang and Age Beeka . The 13 track album which was entirely produced by the enigmatic Cobhams Asuquo, with the exception of one track produced by IBK , will capture the nitty-gritty of Bez's style as the singer will infuse an unusual mixture of soul, jazz, R&B and Hip-Hop music. The album will feature previously released songs like ' Zuciya Daya ', ' More You ' ' Stop Pretending ' and the self titled ' Super Sun '.

Nigerian admitted to Harvard University at the age of 15
Nigerian female Saheela Ibraheem will be attending Harvard at the age of 15. ooo. Some us could not get into Harvard at 25 impressive that she was got into such a prestigious school. She applied to 14 the country, not an extraordinary number of applications, but enough to give her some options. When it was all said and done, the 15- 13 colleges, including six out of the eight Ivy League schools across the nation. She applied to seven, with Yale being the only one deciding to reject. "I'll be one of the youngest. But I won't be the youngest," she said. This was a competitive year for college admissions, for a record number of applications were filed. Saheela began applying to colleges last fall. Her applications included her grade point average (between a 96 and 97 on a 100- point scale) and her 2 ,340 SAT score (a perfect 800 on the math section, a 790 in writing and a 750 in reading). Saheela's future was etched in stone at an early age. Her favorite subject was math and her parents pushed to have her moved to a higher grade that would challenge her academically. That's when she skipped the sixth grade. After feeling unchallenged by public school, Saheela headed to a private school called Wardlaw-Hartridge. At the new school, she skipped her freshman year and started high school as a 10 th-grader. She has three younger brothers, twins who are in the ninth grade and another in the second grade, all of whom attended the same school as their sister. Teachers at the school say that Saheela was far from being a nerd. She studied hard, but was involved in a multitude of activities. She competed in three sports: Softball, soccer and swimming. She also sang in the school choir, played trombone, and worked as president of the school's investment club. "She's learned and she's very smart. But she keeps pushing herself," said William Jenkins, the Wardlaw-Hartridge School's director of development. Saheela sets the standard for what children of color can accomplish when they put their minds to it.

WORLD BANK CHIEF,NGOZI OKONJO IWEALA TO GET MINISTERIAL POST IN NIGERIA
World Bank Managing Director, Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala may return to Nigeria as minister under the new dispensation. There are strong indications that she would return again to her seat as the Federal minister of Finance under the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan. Facts to this effect emerged as Mr. President formally sent the name of Mrs. Okonjo- Iweala to the State Security Service (SSS) for clearance.
It would be recalled that the versatile woman who contributed a lot to the economic programs under former President Obasanjo eventually left the cabinet in controversial circumstances after she was posted to the Foreign Affairs ministry from the Finance ministry.
Suprisingly, gistmaster.com gathered that the name of former managing director of Nigerian Breweries Plc, Mr.Festus Odimegwu was also on the list. Those in the know that this must be compensation time for Odimegwu who was sacked through to his incursion into politics. He was a strong supporter of ex president Olusegun Obasanjo alleged Third term bid in office. Many believe he was sacked because as the head of a corporate institution like Nigerian Breweries he was not suppose to be too partial in his political affiliations.
Mary Onyali- Omagbemi, a popular Nigerian sprinter who did Nigeria proud at many international athletic competitions has also been nominated to become a minister. Her name, gistmaster gathered has been sent for clearance by the security agency

Nigerian Wins Ukrainian Poetry Recital Contest
A 20- year-old Nigerian college student, Ayo Osikoya, has stunned the residents of the eastern Ukrainian city of Donetsk with his talent for reading poetry. In fact, Osikoya's emotive delivery of verses by the Ukrainian national poet, Taras Shevchenko, won out over recitations by native Ukrainian speakers to earn him first prize in a local poetry-reading competition in March. Osikoya's Ukrainian odyssey began two years ago in Lviv, in western Ukraine, where he learned Ukrainian in just seven months. After mastering the language well enough to study, he enrolled at Donetsk Technical University -- widely regarded as Ukraine's best university for technical studies -- to fulfill his dream of becoming a computer engineer. Speaking to RFE/RL's Ukrainian Service, Osikoya said that he liked both Donetsk and Lviv. "Lviv has more culture; Donetsk has more industry. I can't tell you which city I like more -- I like both of them," he said. Osikoya's talent for interpretive reading was noticed by Luzia Dobrovolska, the director of a Donetsk cultural center. It was she who helped him prepare for the Shevchenko reading competition. Dobrovolska noted that Osikoya's interpretive style is very emotional, with his eyes closed and a hand placed over his heart. Osikoya plans to return to Nigeria and start his own business after he completes his studies. But for now, he remains an inspiration to those who love Ukrainian poetry.

20 corpses found hidden in tunnel in Onitsha - Reuters
Nigerian police have uncovered 20 corpses hidden in a tunnel in the southeastern town of Onitsha, and suspect they were victims of armed robbers. Police said they happened upon the hideout on Saturday while responding to an attempted sexual assault in Onitsha's Upper Iweka district, where commuters are often prey to muggers riding motorbike taxis known by the trade name Okada. "The 20 corpses were at different stages of decomposition. Some have become skeletons," said Onuora Ikonso, head of the state police task force. " We suspect the bodies are victims of armed robbery attacks and were dragged into the tunnel, waylaid and killed." He called on the local government to extend an Okada curfew, which currently begins at 7 p.m., "to ensure the safety of travelers." Onitsha is a busy trading port on the banks of the Niger river in southeastern Anambra state, north of the oil-producing wetland swamps of the Niger Delta. - Reuters
