Comedian Jamie Foxx, Hip-Hop mogul Russell Simmons and Alicia Keys were among the celebrities that attended a benefit for Harlem's Apollo theater yesterday (August 21 st) in The Hamptons. Scores of movers and shakers attended the benefit, which took place at the East Hampton estate of billionaire Ronald Perelman. The cost to get into the fundraiser was $100 ,000 to co-chair, $50 ,000 to sponsor and $2,500 per person. Hundreds of celebrities like Richard Gere, Pharrell Williams and director Brett Ratner mingled with politicians and businesspeople like Secretary of State Colin Powell, and current Citigroup CEO d**k Parsons, who also attended the swanky affair for The Apollo. Last night, Jamie Foxx flew back to his mansion on the West Coast, where he hosted an exclusive listening session for Marques Anthony, an artist on his new label, Foxx City Music.
According to Jamie Foxx, when he performed a medley of his hits that included "Gold Digger" and "Blame It" featuring T–Pain, some of the more unexpected guests were dancing to the Hip - Hop music . Foxx, said that former Secretary of State Colin Powell and co-Chair d**k Parsons were dancing to the rap music, as were Hip-Hop mogul Russell Simmons and Sony Music boss, Antonio "LA" Reid. In addition to Jamie Foxx, Alicia Keys, Jon Bon Jovi, Betty Lavette and Ben E. King also performed at the event, which raised an estimated $1,000,000 for the Apollo theater.
