After a successful shooting of the film within and outside the shores of this country, Funke Akindele's "The Return of Jenifa" already raising a dust in the industry is due to premiere on September 23, at Muson Centre, Lagos.
The ambitious film is also expected to hit the cinemas across the country the same day.
Our source confirmed that Funke plans to premiere the blockbuster movie in the United States and the United Kingdom respectively.
The Return of Jenifa', according to Funke's publicist, is enjoying support from the telecom giant, Globacom; and Lagos State government. Other cooperate bodies are said to be discussing with the producer of the movie.
The best of the 'Jenifa' phenomenal, 'The Return of Jenifa' features music and movie acts including Antar Laniyan, Eldee the Don, Banky W, Denrele, Iyabo Ojo, Ireti Osayemi, Helen Paul, Late Comedian CD John, Omawunmi, Yinka Quadri and many others.
Directed by DJ Tee of DJ Tee Films, the movie unravels the suspense that enveloped Jenifa's exploits.
Jenifa registered to participate in a dancing competition. But as part of requirements for her participation, she must undergo an HIV/AIDS test. Unsure of her HIV/AIDS status, Jenifa declined in toto. There is a blatant silence as to the repercussion of Jenifa's excesses, especially her HIV status.
Afraid of the unknown, Jenifa becomes her own antagonist by being evasive. She withdrew from the society she once ruled and relocated back to her village. While in the village, Jenifa never stopped being her crazy self, but the end must surely justify the means. She learns life is not all about being a 'Gbogbo Bigs Girls'.
