GTBank PLC announced yesterday evening, that their co-founder Tayo Aderinokun has passed. The very much-liked banker who had been ill for a while, eventually passed today, leaving the entire corporate community, and many who encountered him in deep sorrow. In an announcement through its Twitter account, GTBank said ' We regret to announce the passing on of our CEO, Tayo Aderinokun, today, aged 56 ' and also put up a picture of the former MD. There was no information on the bank's official website as at press time; except for a touching banner with the inscription ' Tayo Aderinokun Passeson (1955 – 2011)'. During his years of work, the well respected banker received many awards including ThisDay 's ' Banker of the Year ' in 2006 and the PWC 's ' Most Respected CEO ' in 2008. He was an entertainment enthusiast and art patron who encouraged GTB to support many entertainment related initiatives. Multiple sources have also confirmed to us that Aderinokun who had been on sick leave for months now, passed on this afternoon Tuesday, June 14 , 2011 at about 5 :30 pm in a UK hospital. He reportedly had a long battle with Cancer of the lungs.
