Genesis 2: 18-25; Ephesians 3:14-15
It is not how far you fall that matters but how high you bounce back from your fall. You can bounce back with one decision. Even after you have made mistakes, you can decide to start again the right way. God has opportunities for all of us – opportunities for promotion and success; but the key factor is how prepared are we for these opportunities? Having a good education is important but without a dependable character or emotional maturity to manage the responsibilities and resources God will commit to us, a lot of resources and time will be wasted. It is very easy to criticise people in leadership who are abusing their positions because their flaws and failures are very obvious to everyone. However, is it possible that we are also showing such character flaws and failures in our own little corners, in our homes, our departments and in the offices which we oversee?
The sin nature is part of human nature. Every human being is born with a default setting to fail. The good news is that God has made provision for us to receive forgiveness and to be free from that sin nature through the Lord Jesus Christ. We all need to grow in character as we prepare for those opportunities that God has prepared for us. The coming months and years will bring unprecedented opportunities for success and promotion into our lives; the big question is “Are you prepared?” Now is the time to ask God for help to develop the capacity to take advantage and make good use of the opportunities that will come your way. Ask God to help you develop a good character and the ability to overcome your weaknesses and limitations. Ask Him for a vision and dream and the discipline required to act with maturity (1 Corinthians 13:11). God’s grace is sufficient for us and His strength is made perfect in our weaknesses.
He has made available the grace to overcome our limitations, weaknesses, sinful habits, selfishness, ignorance, greed and discipline to master our appetites. This grace is available when you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Saviour.
