After months of waiting the moment most people were waiting for is finally upon us, the bride Kate walking down the aisle of the Westminster Abbey by her father. Wearing a gorgeous dress designed by Sarah Burton for the house of Alexander McQueen. The dress itself features a lace applique of hand-cut flowers on the bodice and skirt. All fabrics used were made by British companies and included English lace and French Chantilly lace, ivory and white satin gazar with the underskirt made of silk tulle trimmed with Cluny lace. The back of the custom McQueen gown was finished with 58 gazar and organza covered buttons fastened by Rouleau loops. Kate also wore hand-made McQueen shoes made of ivory duchesse satin with lace hand-embroidered by the Royal School of Needlework. Her silk tulle veil was held in place by a Cartier tiara, lent to bride by the Queen . The official Royal Wedding website says the bride chose Sarah Burton "for the beauty of its craftsmanship and its respect for traditional workmanship and the technical construction of clothing". The site adds : "Miss Middleton wished for her dress to combine tradition and modernity with the artistic vision that characterises Alexander McQueen's work. Miss Middleton worked closely with Sarah Burton in formulating the design of her dress." Prince William arrived ahead of his bride in a red Colonel of the Irish Guards uniform created by Savile Row tailors Gieves & Hawkes , accented with a blue sash. Don't both he & Harry look dashing in uniform? Gosh I need a uniformed prince in my life…LOL (chanted a Naija lady). Kate Middleton leaves her hotel a commoner in a Rolls Royce Phantom accompanied by her father, and leaves the Abbey Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge …a Princess
