Nicki Minaj Likely to Head to U.S. Edition of 'X Factor'

Nicki Minaj is being courted by Simon Cowell, though the music industry veteran isn't interested in her affection. Cowell, who created the U.K. reality singing competition series 'The X Factor,' reportedly met with the 'Pink Friday' creator to discuss the prospect of having her join the U.S. edition of the talent show.

According to Page Six, the rapper met with Simon Cowell in Los Angeles several weeks ago to speak about her role in the TV program, set to appear on Fox.

"Nicki has a large following and she fits well with the ethos of the show, which plans to usher in a new generation of musical talent," a source told Page Six. "'X Factor' is aiming for a younger audience. Those aged 12 and over can audition, and [the English version has] launched successful artists from other genres of music than pop."

Cowell is rumored to have taken an interest in the rainbow-colored wig-wearing performer because of her unique character. "Simon thinks Nicki is fantastic," the source revealed. "She's sassy, she looks great and she has bags of personality."

Though the two have met, no deal has been finalized regarding Minaj's appearance on 'The X Factor.' Ever the workhorse, the Young Money affiliate is currently keeping busy on the road with Lil Wayne as part of the 'I Am Music II' tour, which kicked off in Providence, R.I., earlier this week.

Besides Nicki Minaj, former Def Jam CEO and Chairman L.A. Reid made headlines this week regarding his involvement with 'The X Factor' as well. Reid announced his resignation from the major record label and is reportedly taking a judging post on Simon Cowell's show this fall.
