South Korea Beat Greece 2-0 in Group B World Cup Opener




PORT ELIZABETH, South Africa- South Koreahave defeaed Greece 2-0 in day 2 of  2010 FIFA World Cup  South Africa beganaction, the first clash of Group B.
It was billed as a game of two very different football styles and culture as Asian power South Korea took on European power Greece at the newly built Nelson Mandela Stadium in Port Elizabeth.
South Korea made a magnificent start, putting the Greek defenders under enormous pressure from the first moments, and the intensity was rewarded with a goal in the 6th minute by a completely unmarked Lee Jungsoo.
The South Koreans held most of the possession in the first half, playing a brand of phenomenal football – incisive in short space, finding the pass, good off the ball movement in the first half.
In the second half, a shell shocked Greece were again hit in defence, with Korean Republic captain Park Ji-Sung kicked a thrilling goal on the run, defeating two Greek defenders, smashing the ball  over the keeper with a score from 6 meters out.
Greece tried desperately to fire back a goal, but Greece wasdenied by solid defending and goal keeping.
Korea pressed for a thrid goal, but it was not to be, South Korea securing the first win of the 2010 World Cup Finals much to the delight of thousands who packed the streets back home
