Eccl 4:9-12, Mal 2:14-16 Marriage is the most fundamental of all relationships. It predates any civilization and no civilization can lay claim to marriage because it is God's idea. God instituted marriage at the level of a covenant, thus He elevated it far above every other form of relationships. A covenant is a contractual agreement which is binding on the parties involved. Marriage is a covenant between God and a man and woman. …'A three-fold cord cannot be broken'. God designed marriage to meet the human need for connection because human beings were not created for isolation. There is power in synergy. Two are better than one. The world operates on God's laws and principles, and He has invested tremendous power in them, so, when you align with His principles, they work in your favour. In a marriage relationship, the law of synergy is active, and it's the obedience to God's terms for the marriage covenant that results in success and fruitfulness. Breaching the terms of the marriage covenant could hinder a person's blessings. A good marriage is not a promise from God; it's only commitment and a strict adherence that can guarantee a blissful marriage. Singles take note - be mindful of the significance of the covenant, watch who you join forces with, a man does not have the capacity to walk in a covenant with a woman if his covenant walk with God is not straightened out, which is why the bible instructs us not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers. A man, who does not have a covenant with God, cannot have a covenant with another human being. It's important to stress at this point that only 'dead' people can enjoy a blissful marriage, people who are dead with Christ and live through Him, people who are dead to their philosophies, biases, and stimuli and self! Jesus said a husband should die for his wife, the way He died for the church. Finally, be ready to make the necessary changes in your attitude, perceptions and actions. Grasp fully the implication of a covenant and you will NEVER consider divorce. You must walk with covenant-sense. |
