Sad!! Death toll rises to 78 in Yobe student attack

The death toll at the College of Agriculure, Gujba ,Yobe State has risen to 78. At least 50 of them were students who were attacked in the early hours of yesterday morning as they slept in their hostel. Some were shot, others were butchered with swords and knives. The gunmen, suspected to be Boko Haram sect members later moved to houses around the hostel, killing residents they find. Then they blocked the Damaturu-Maiduguri road and killed travellers. So far, 78 bodies have been counted, with many more people still unaccounted for. A student of the college who survived the massacre explained what happened...
"They started gathering students into groups outside, then they opened fire and killed one group and then moved onto the next group and killed them. It was so terrible. They came with guns around 1a.m. and went directly to the male hostel and opened fire on them. The college is in the bush, so the other students were running around helplessly as guns went off and some of them were shot down.”

The gunmen stormed the hostels in two double-cabin pickup all-terrain vehicles and on motorcycles, and were dressed in military camouflage. They attacked 4 male hostels but avoided the only hostel reserved for girls. Swords and knives were used to kill at least 30 male students. Some corpses that were found were without heads while others had heads hanging to the bodies. Wailing parents and relatives were at the Sani Abacha Specialist Hospital mortuary in Damaturu this morning to identify their loved ones. This can't continue. This government has to do something about the situation.

Terrorism: What Is The African Government Doing?

Yesterday, I was in a talk with a new "friend", a Law student at the University where I'm presently studying. He is Tanzanian but has lived in the UK (from the way he talks - I believe), all his life.

Its "un-popular" news that a Kenyan shopping mall was attacked in Nairobi, leaving scores dead and many un-accounted for. The Kenyan government claims to be in control of the Westgate Shopping Centre - however, there may be fear of some hostages still being kept by the Al-shabab movement.

Going back to my talk with this bright young man (obviously ignorant of how Africa as a whole is run by its independent governments), He states, "These "islamists" are f**cking nuts"... He asks, "what is the Kenyan government doing about it? So many lives lost" (this was during the live broadcast on what was going on at the westgate mall). He also asks about the Boko Haram in my country if it still goes on and I sigh before I even attempt to answer any of them.

Its generally saddening that scours of people are being murdered in cold blood and the presidents (at least the president of Nigeria), can be making amusing joke offers to Kenya to help them fight terror when less than a fortnight to the Kenyan attacks (in fact less than a few hours), nine artisans (official number *sigh*) were killed in Gudu District of abuja and some terrorist attacks recently without the President acting "presidential" - with him even jetting off to the New York Exchange to ring closing bells for the American stock market while his country was on fire.

I don't blame my learned Tanzanian friend for his vexed mood and his cursing and I join him using foul words in referring to the governing team of my nation and many other african nations as a f*cking nut-head colloquy of imbeciles!

Still we continue to ask what are the African Governments doing? At least my African government! What can we as a people do? We put these retards in power (if you voted against them, well done, if you did for them it remains your un-reserved rights and if you didn't vote at all you are a major part of the bull-crap that is making our system fail).

For people like me, lets continue to write and speak up. Lets continue to interact with brilliant Africans in the diaspora and try as much as possible to be the change or create the atmosphere that will bring about change in our countries, albeit continent.

Drake Drops "Wu-Tang Forever"

Drake has an interesting way of showing love to the Wu-Tang Clan. “Wu-Tang Forever,” the latest off Nothing Was the Same, leaked late Thursday (Sept. 12), yet most of the lyrics aren’t about the legendary hip hop group.
Crooning over a beat produced by Noah "40" Shebib, October’s Own opens by airing out girl troubles. "We used to be friends girl, and back then girl/You would look at me with no hesitation and you’d tell me, ‘baby it’s yours.'"
So what does that have to do with the Wu? Nothing, but there are other less obvious shout outs to the Shaolin collective. For starters, "Wu-Tang Forever" samples "It’s Yourz" off 1997’s Wu-Tang Forever , and just after the hook Drizzy flips the concept as a metaphor for his career spitting, "Young n----a came through on his Wu-Tang/And nowadays when I ask about who got it they say, ‘it’s yours.’"
He also borrows from Reakwon’s "It’s Yourz" verse: "Machine gun raps for all my n---as in the back/Stadium packed, just glad to see the city on the map."
No matter how clever the effort, the title doesn’t quite fit with the pillow-y vocals and some Wu fans aren’t happy. One person tweeted, "Straight sing song trash over 'Itz Yourz' sample. ODB is rolling in his grave," while another likened the track to a "wet noodle."
Others came to his defense calling the work "fire" and the "truth."
Nothing Was the Same hits stores Sept. 24.

Will Smith Doesnt Look 45... or Does He? Check out pictures of him on set from his upcoming film, Focus

The actor showed off his toned physique as he squeezed in a workout between takes on the New Orleans set of Focus on Friday.

Wearing just blue shorts and trainers, the topless hunk was put through his paces as he completed his workout with a trainer.

Check out those guns: Will Smith put his impressive muscles on display as he worked out topless on the set of his latest movie Focus

Will is in the Big Easy to shoot scenes for his upcoming film Focus, which follows a con man (Smith) who falls for a rookie (Margot Robbie) right as he's planning an elaborate theft. And although Margot, 23, is over 20 years younger than Will, he looked like he will have no trouble keeping up with her. In the movie Will also stars opposite Rodrigo Santoro, who plays a powerful auto racing team owner who wants Robbie's affections for himself.

So, Miss Uzbekistan comes from a Muslim country that holds no such contest?

As beauty queens go, Miss Uzbekistan ticks all the boxes.

She’s pretty, sporty, loves to travel, has musical talent and has brains to boot (she says she likes to read Chekhov, Dostoevsky and Tolstoy).
And after she’s competed at the Miss World final in Indonesia later this month, 18-year-old Rakhima Ganieva wants to graduate from university and become a lawyer.

Mysterious girl: Rakhima Ganieva claims to be 'Miss Uzbekistan' - despite no such competition ever being held
Centre of attention: Miss Uzbekistan struts along the runway at the opening ceremony of Miss World 2013 held in Bali Indonesia
Centre of attention: Miss Uzbekistan struts along the runway at the opening ceremony of Miss World 2013 held in Bali Indonesia

But there is a glaring omission from her perfect CV – Uzbekistan has no idea who she is. The predominantly Muslim country doesn’t even hold a Miss Uzbekistan contest.
Officials at the Uzbek Culture and Sports Ministry and the National Committee on Women said yesterday that anyone laying claim to the nation’s beauty crown was an imposter.

#ChildNotBride: Stella Damasus takes on Senator Yerima, live on Al Jazeera (WATCH VIDEO)

Nollywood actress Stella Damasus has made no attempts to hide her outrage at the #ChildNotBride saga, regarding Section 29, subsection 4b of the Nigerian constitution. One of her main indictees was Senator Yerima, who made headlines in 2010 for marrying a 13-year-old girl, with whom he now has a child.
The two got a chance to go head to head, on Al Jazeera’s show, The Stream, in what was undoubtedly a heated session. Watch footage of the show below.

Rationale of the Black Panther and the Iron Musical Throne
Music Meets Runway 2013 - BellaNaija - September 2013005
The Black Panther signifies power, struggle, freedom and empowerment of the black race. MMR 2013 is celebrating music & fashion icons who have been recognized internationally and as such have put us (Nigeria) on the world map. “Panthers” are known for their extra-terrestrial strength and these iconic pioneers are determined men and women who are not only passionate but believe in hard work.
The Iron Throne represents the political relationship between both fields (fashion and music) metaphorically. Fashion has always needed music to get to a certain level of acceptance by the public. And this year, as seen in “The Game Of Thrones“, MMR is filled with suspense, intrigue and lots of power; the fashion gurus will literally ride on music to showcase their inherent creativity.

Children Are A Blessing But What Do You Do When A Teenager Has Triplets For A 16 Year Old Boy??

A teenager has given birth to triplets in Bungoma County, Daily Nation has reported. Fourteen-year-old Mwanaharabu Wamukoya of Harambee village in Kakamega County, Kenya was admitted to Bungoma District Hospital on Saturday evening and had a Caesarean Section on Sunday to deliver the three baby boys. Two of the new-borns weighed 1.5 kilogrammes while the third one weighed 1.3 kilogrammes.

Nursing officer-in-charge Mary Marumbu said the babies and their mother were in stable condition and ready to be discharged. The father of the babies, a 16-year-old boy, is said to have taken off on learning that the girl had given birth to triplets. The teen is also a school dropout and does menial jobs. The arrival of the triplets is said to have distressed him.

“He has no ability to take care of the babies even if he was here. We are grateful to the government for scrapping off maternity fees because I will be free to go home once discharged. I would have been detained here if I had been asked to pay,” the teenage mother said.

Medical doctors and pharmacists in LUTH protest non-payment of salaries

This is according to reports from www.lindaikeji.blogspot.com
Medical and Pharmacy Interns of the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) are protesting the non-payment of their salaries for at least 3 months, some for longer. These house officers and interns are the first line doctors, they are the first to see the patients, first to get to work and last to leave, and for the past three months they have not been paid. Not fair! The relevant authorities should please address this issue before the situation escalates.
